This morning for the first time Geisha gave me the "I need to go outside look". She sat and just looked at me just like Cocoa used to do. Then I repeated several times "outside?" and she started walking towards the back door with me repeating "outside?'. I hooked her on her retractable lead and out we went and she went right to her area and did her business. Praise and pets were given and then she started walking right back towards the back door to go back in. I dried her feet and she was back to playing again.
We're getting there. If the grass wasn't wet from the morning dew she may not have wanted to head back in right away. We'll work on that. We determine her outside play time, not her and she has to know that. She doesn't always respond to her name but she is learning to respond pretty well to the command "leave it" when she starts to mouth or chew or carry something she isn't supposed to have. And she sure knows the command "no" very well. And there is absolutely no problem taking anything away from her be it food, a chew bone, or toy. No growl and no snap.
The similarities in the personality of Geisha with our last girl, Cocoa are striking. She has barked only two times since we've had her but she has the same kind of easy growl when we play tug that Cocoa did.
