Following are photos taken by Professionals that most visitors are unable to capture with their cameras. The photos were received in an email, are too good to be deleted, and should be shared with others. They are posted here for people to see and enjoy. Not the ordinary views . . . To appreciate those pictures one should know that the mighty Colorado River today is just a trickle compared to what it was before man dammed the river and diverted over 3/4 of it's flow for his own purposes. Now days they periodically have to open the gates and allow the river to flow at about 1/2 the rate it once did for a short period in order to flush out the silt and debris that accumulates in the canyon because of the slow flow. IOW when you see the pics shown here in these photos the natural river level would be far above what it is now and the rapids far more violent. Lends perspective to just what the original explorers who ran that rive through the canyon in wooden boats. Many that tried were never seen again.
