How High Cooking Temperatures Can Cause Inflammation
IOW grilled food is bad for you! Well they can pry my grill from my cold arthritic hands when I can no longer hold cooking implements anymore. Just bought a new IR grill this spring and have already used it about 10 times. During the spring and summer months I grill a lot. Usually at least 1 to 2 times a week doing everything from Hot dogs and hamburgers to western style beef ribs and beef, chicken and shrimp Kabobs on my grill. Last year I did some African Rock lobster tails that came out fantastic. I just traded in two empty propane bottles for full ones and will go through at least five bottles during a season. Right now I'm looking for a new electric Rotisserie. I have been known to grill in the dead of the winter at least a couple times each year also when the desire strikes me.

We charcoal grill and Hibachi grill during any given month each year. Yea, but I bet it ain't snowing when you do it! Doing boneless Western BBQ Beef ribs again this Saturday. Trying to refine my recipe. Going to make my own BBQ sauce this time and go through the boil, bake, grill sequence. Also putting some mesquite in the water pan in the grill this time.

One of our best months was when we were without power due to a snow & ice storm. That was out of necessity. We became Korean cuisine experts when it was all done.

Well it's been a pretty productive weekend so far. Thursday night I awoke at 19:00 at the TA truck stop in Woodstock, ON. Drove home and got 5 hours sleep. Got up and mowed the yard and then went to opening night at the Gas City race track. 31 Sprints running and it was great.
Today I got the sonotube piers poured for my shed. Let them cure for a few days and I'm ready for my shed to be brought in. Then the kids came over and Lora did the Western styleribs her way teaching me the method and they came out fantastic. Rounded out the meal with pretty good sweet corn on the cob and potato salad.
It's a gorgeous night here. No wind for the first time in weeks. A full moon and clear skies and reasonably warm temps. But I can't enjoy it. I've only had 11 hours sleep since I left that truck stop Thursday and I've had it. Time to cuddle up with Sherry and get some sack time.
Night all.

BTW I learned a new trick for digging holes for posts or for a Sonotube. Instead of using a powered auger or post hole diggers when doing a few holes one can use an ice auger. Just use a spade or shovel to take off the sod and grass and get to the dirt. Then use the ice auger, like ice fisherman use and it cuts a nice 4" diameter hole up to 35" deep. This is what a hand powered ice auger looks like
The advantage of the ice auger, besides being cheap and simple, is that if your concerned about underground plumbing or wiring your operating it by hand and can tell when you strike something BEFORE you tear it up. Once you make the pilot hole with the ice auger you can use your post hold diggers to widen out the hole as required. My holes had to be a touch over 8" in diameter for my 8" sonotube forms:
I put in eight holes with forms. I cut the sonotubes 18" long because only the portion that will stick out of ground needs the form and I would have only 6" sticking up above grade at the most.
Locate where the holes go. Dig the holes. Determine the hole that is located at the location where the grade has the highest elevation. Insert form to the height you want it. Take two short pieces of wood laying flush on the ground on each side of the cardboard sonotube form and screw through the inside of the form into those scrap wood pieces. Then with a friend use a line level to put all the other forms in the same manner so that they are level with the first tube you put in.
No need to premix the sackcrete. Just mix it in the hole. trowel it out even with the top of the tube. In a four to five days your ready.
