Sunday at midnight ran up to Romulus, MI and back. Got back in at 04:30 Monday. At 16:30 they called. Depart 01:30 Tuesday with a Nestles refer load for a wholesale grocery warehouse in Assonet, MA. which is 937 mi. from Anderson.
Assonet is down by the base of the cape in SE MA. and after delivering there I made 4 stops to pick up customer freight and bring it back to Anderson.
I arrived a Carter at 00:30 to find that the Nestles had over loaded the trailer and the driver that had picked it up had to take it back to be reloaded. So I didn't get out of Carter until 02:30.
Drove to Austinburg, OH on I-90 east of Cleavland and topped off the fuel and ate a sausage egg and cheese biscut sandwich. Then on to the Service area at Oneita, NY 678 miles. Had a chicken Ceasar salad for dinner and sacked out. Then drove the rest the way to Assonet arriving at 04:45 Wed. morning for my 07:00 appointment. This warehouse takes some time usually but this time they had me done by 07:30. Had 4 cases of Berinoli wild mushroom angle hair pasta which were damaged. I left the cases in the back of the trailer and left the refer on but raised the temperature setting from 33 deg. F to 40 deg. F. Since it was only 47 deg that kept those cases of refrigerated pasta with fixings just fine.
I drove 100 mi north on I-93 through the heart of Boston up to Mikeys Pilot truck stop along the Merrimack river in Bow, NH. arriving there at 09:45. There I had time to burn. I only had 44 miles to go for my first pickup which wasn't until 09:00 the next morning. So I read then eventually went in and bought at Ceaser Salad and a chicken salad sub for dinner. Then read my self to sleep. Really I needed that break since I was working on a sleep deficit.
The next morning I got up at 04:00 because I couldn't sleep any more. Went in to the truck stop and took a shower. Then filled my two thermoses with good Dunkin Donuts coffee and bought a couple of blueberry donuts. I went back and checked the refer. I was picking up auto parts that are boxed but you don't want condensation inside of the trailer. It was damp and why would I expect otherwise since it had been raining the whole damned trip. So I kicked the refer from cool to warm and set it on 80 deg to dry out the trailer. The boxes of pasta were at the rear by the doors and should be just fine. Then I headed out for my first pick up in Bristol, NH. Nice people there. Gave them the cases of pasta and told them the situation and the guy checked one packet and said it was just fine. So at least that food didn't go to waste.
Drove back down I-93 66 miles to the next pick up in Londonderry, NH. Got loaded and out of there by 11:00. Then it was down I-93 to I-495 S around Boston to I-90 W to I-84 W through Hartford, CN to I-91 S through New Haven, CN to I-95S along the north shore of the Long Island sound to I-87 W over Hudson River via the Tappanzee bridge to I-287 down to I-95 S again to I-295 S down to Thorofare, NJ where my last pick up of the day was. Arrived there at 19:00 and got loaded and out of there at 20:45.
Then it was back I-295 a short distance to US 322 W and across the Commodore Barry bridge over the Delaware river a little south of Chester, PA to US 202 N to US 30 W to Lancaster, PA where I my last pick up would be. Parked at an empty facility for sale right around the corner from my last pick up. Ate some tuna salad and crackers for dinner and sacked out at 22:00. At 07:00 Friday morning the alarm went off and by 07:35 I was in the dock at the last pick up. At least it had stopped raining.
The drive home was fine along the PA turnpike except I had a pick up truck suffer a blowout in front of me while passing through the Blue Mountain tunnel. Thought the guy was going to lose it but he hang on and made it out of the tunnel on his rim. In Ohio on I-70 it turned brutal. Heavy Friday traffic and lots of construction. It really grated on my nerves. All I wanted to do was get home but nobody was giving anyone a break. Finally got back to Carter at 16:45.
The best thing I can say about this trip that there were no accidents and I earned $1,332.00 this week.
