Our old cloths dryer finally gave out. Could have put another new heating element in it but Sherry and I had already decided that the next time we had problems we would buy new. We had been looking on occasion and already knew we didn't want the front loading washer. They just look like a leak waiting to happen to me. And besides when you buy those things you really need to buy the pedestals for them and that adds over $100.00 to the price for each unit.
So this morning we found a nice LG brand top loader washer that doesn't have the agitator like the old ones that was regularly over $900.00 that had a little dent in the side and I got it for $699.00. The matching front loading dryer cost about the same. Ordered them for next day delivery.
The Washer & Dryer has a neat deal on it. If your having trouble you call a number at LG and then put your smart phone next to a transmitter on the unit and they do the diagnostic right through your phone! They're the only brand that has that is what I've been told. Our two largest TVs are both LG and we have been very satisfied with them so that influenced our decision on what brand to buy.
So today once I got home from buying those new appliances I pulled the old washer and dryer out. Then I decided I needed new water supply hoses for the new washer. When I tried to disconnect the old supply hoses it was like they were welded to the old brass valves they were screwed into. I tried everything, including heating the metal end of the supply hose connector with a plumbers torch and they just would not break loose!
So I said to hell with it! I turned off the valve for water supply to the house and took those old brass valves off and installed new chromed valves with the knobs color coded for cold and hot and then installed the new high quality stainless steel webbed supply hoses with flow protectors and screens onto the new valves.
While I had the water off I also changed the whole house water filter element.
Now the water is back on and nothing is leaking though the connections of the supply lines will not be checked until their hooked up to the new washing machine.
I also helped my neighbor Steve on the picnic and family gathering shelter he's building in the grass field behind my house. It's going to be a wonderful addition. 38' long x 20' wide. 4 each 10" square ceder posts on each side. Supporting rafters of ash logs gusseted with ash knee braces and ash cross members all tied together with welded steel "T" brackets, painted and bolted through and through. The roof decking is rough sawed pine boards that I helped nail down today using 4" twisted nails. This weekend we'll nail on the nylon reinforced roofing felt and then on top of that screw on the metal roof and end caps for the exposed horizontal members on the ends.
Then the shelter it's self is done but the next project is the floor. Level the ground, put down heavy plastic and then on top of that goes the limestone grit which over time will settle and amalgamate together and become very much like concrete. Then wire in and string four lights up in the rafters to light the inside. Steve already has places with electrical and water hookups for two RVs out there. So it will be a nice camp ground and a nice place to have family functions during the summer.
